Why NSA?
The student body of the School of Nursing at San Francisco State University recognizes the importance of having a student organization to represent on campus. This organization exists to promote a positive image of the School of Nursing and to encourage students to participate in school related activities sponsored by our association and encourage them in choosing nursing as a profession.
Our Members Say…
“I joined the NSA in my first semester because at that time it felt like nursing school was consisted mostly of studying and practicing skills we learned in lab and in clinical. With the NSA, I was able to volunteer, do fun projects and meet new people at the same time. With that said, another reason I joined was to network with people who have already gone through the experiences that I will be going through. Being active with the NSA allows me to be involved with issues that are going on in the school of nursing and in the professional world.” -Teresa Chee
“I joined the NSA to get more involved in the community. I love the act of volunteering and with the NSA I have more opportunities to do just that. Along with volunteering the NSA has given me more opportunities to develop my leadership skills. Through creative organization and hosting of NSA sponsored events I feel I have learned how to become a more efficient, productive leader. With help from the NSA I am able to develop skills that will further benefit me as a nurse.” -Cassie Mickle
“I joined the NSA because I wanted leadership opportunities to grow professionally as a student and future nurse. I also wanted to learn about various aspects that effect nursing students beyond the classroom. Becoming actively involved with the NSA has been a great learning experience and I encourage everyone to do so as well!” -Judy Chang
“I joined NSA early in my Level One semester because I want to experience the full-richness of being a student nurse. While appreciating the importance of classroom content, I believe interacting in the world around us as student nurses, is just as important. Being engaged in the NSA offers a wealth of opportunities for applying classroom content, for furthering the process of socialization into the profession of nursing, and, yes, even for simply having fun!” -John Minnett
“NSA provides a professional networking platform in the comforts of our own campus! It calls for collaboration and knowledge sharing on various levels – academic and professional. My batch mates will grow to be my peers in the industry. I intend to be a contributor, leader, and an active learner right from the early stages of my Nursing career.” – Fatima Arastu
“I joined NSA for various reasons. One reason was to volunteer and give back to the community. I have volunteered in the past and find it rewarding and gratifying. Another reason why I joined NSA was to meet new people. In every meeting or any planned activity or event, I am bound to meet someone new. It is great opportunity for networking and creating friendship. Also, NSA was a way to relieve some stress from nursing program. I am able to have fun, hang out with cool people, and do something for the community all in one. It is great way to be involved with my profession.” – Bonny Lee
